- Rick Ross' Charity Event Marred By Gunfire
- Thu, 07 Aug 2008 09:24:18 PDT - Rick Ross' 'Be Out Day' charity event was disrupted and brought to an abrupt end by gunfire yesterday (August 6).
According to The Broward New Times, Ross was on stage performing when shots rang out across the street from the event. The shots sent the crowd which included young children and their parents into a panic.
Ross and other rappers at the event would calm the crowd down and continue to perform but police asked the event to be shut down for security reasons.
Police arrested one man and recovered a gun. They are currently looking for a second person who fled the scene. No injures were reported and police believe the men were shooting in the air.
Ross told The Broward New Times that he wanted to keep performing because he felt the crowd was safe and didn?t want to let his fans down. He also said he won?t let the incident stop him from holding another charity event.
?It?s another day in the city, I?m a keep it real,? Rick Ross said. ?I feel like all the kids came and they left safe. Some dudes had a squabble on the side of the road and whatever happened, but other than that, all the kids got to see Rick Ross, Flo Rida, Brisco and we all had a good time.?

At the end of his show, Kanye brought out Jay-Z onstage and the Brooklyn bred rapper performed a new song called "Jocking Jay-Z" and announced his upcoming album will be titled Blueprint 3.
On the new song, Jay-Z takes shots at Oasis member Noel Gallagher: ?That bloke from Oasis said I couldn't play guitar/Somebody should have told him I'm a fuckin' rock star...? [Watch The Video Of Jay-Z performing "Jocking Jay-Z"]
Prior to Jay-Z performing at the Glastonbury festival in June, Gallagher said that rap had no place at the revered British rock festival.

- Dead Body Found At Club That Hosted Lil Kim Party
- Thu, 07 Aug 2008 06:57:44 PDT - The body of a dead woman was reportedly found at a New York nightclub where Lil Kim recently held her birthday party.
According to The NY1 News, Lil Kim held her birthday party at the Spotlight Live Club on Sunday(August 3) and the body of 24-year-old Ingrid Rivera was found yesterday (August 6) in a utility closet on the club?s roof.
Authorities say Rivera attended the rapper's party and was reported missing on Tuesday (August 5).
A woman claiming to be Rivera?s friend told police that Rivera was involved in an altercation with club employees on the night of the party.
The club has not revealed a comment on the murder and sources say Lil Kim did not know Rivera and was unaware of the incident.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine what caused Rivera's death.

- Wed, 06 Aug 2008 09:21:09 PDT - Singer/actor Jennifer Lopez will not be testifying about a 1999 nightclub shooting which involved incarcerated rapper Shyne and her ex-boyfriend Sean 'Diddy' Combs.
Lopez was served with a subpoena in June to testify about the incident in a deposition yesterday (August 6) but according to TMZ, the deposition did not occur because Lopez had ?nothing to contribute to the case?.
On December 27th 1999, Diddy and Lopez accompanied by Shyne and their entourages partied at the now-defunct Club New York. During the night, a gang member would throw a wad of cash at Diddy and pulled a gun on him.
Shyne would respond by pulling out a gun and firing. Natania Reuben, an innocent bystander, would be hit in the face.
Diddy would be cleared of any wrongdoing in the incident via a trial but Shyne would be served a 10 year sentence for possessing a gun and firing it into a crowd. Lopez never testified during the trial and has never spoken publicly about the incident.
Reuben has filed a $120 million lawsuit against Diddy for injuries and damages.

According to Billboard, Dre will first release Aftermath Cognac and then later release a series of sparkling vodkas.
As reported earlier, the alcoholic beverages are part of an agreement between Drinks Americas and Dre?s record label, Interscope Geffen A&M Records.
Dr. Dre will be marketing his long-awaited Detox album along with the alcoholic beverages. Dre announced earlier this year that he plans to drop Detox in November or December.
Dre revealed the project will feature appearances from Nas, Jay-Z, and Lil? Wayne.

Tha Carter III passed the 2,000,000 sales mark by pushing 78,700 discs this week. The album's tally stands at 2,075,900.
Nas stays put at No. 2. Untitled shifted 41,000 units this week, pushing the album's total sales to 291,300.
Posted at No. 3 is Florida rapper Plies. Definition Of Real scanned 15,600 copies in its eighth week on the charts. So far, the album has sold a total of 433,500 discs.
David Banner slips down to No. 4. The Greatest Story Ever Told reels in 15,200 units this week, bringing the album's total sales to 88,300.
Right behind him is Memphis rap duo Three 6 Mafia at No. 5. Last 2 Walk scanned 13,700 units this week. To date, the album has sold 184,500.
Seated at No. 6 are The Flobots. Fight With Tools shelves off 12,100 CDs in its 19th week on the charts. So far, the album has sold 192,100 copies.
Holding fort at No. 7 is G-Unit. Terminate On Sight ropes in 11,600 units this week, pushing the album's total to 184,800.
M.I.A. sneaks back into The Top 10 by grabbing the No. 8 spot. Kala rakes in 8,500 discs this week. The album?s tally stands at 250,500.
A seat away is Rick Ross at No. 9. 7,200 people picked up Trilla this week, bringing the album's total to 645,000.
Wrapping things up is rap/reggaton duo Wisin Y Yandel. Los Extraterr moves 6,500 units this week. So far, the album has sold 337,400 copies.
- Lil Jon Parts Ways With TVT; ?I'm Happy To Finally Be A Free Man?
- Tue, 05 Aug 2008 16:18:14 PDT - Atlanta producer/rapper Lil Jon has parted ways with longtime record label TVT Records.
TVT filed for bankruptcy last year and was recently acquired by The Orchard, a digital entertainment company.
According to The Associated Press, Lil Jon and The Orchard have come to an agreement which frees the rapper from his earlier obligations to TVT.
As part of the deal, Lil Jon will get the rights to the master recordings of his upcoming album Crunk Rock. In return, Jon will serve as a consultant for Orchard's Brand Entertainment Group and his older and newer material will be digitally issued by Orchard .
Lil Jon is now free to sign with another label as an artist.
?It's about time I get what's owed to me from the situation I was stuck in,? Lil Jon told The Associated Press. ?Its unfortunate things have turned out the way they did, but artists deserve to be compensated fairly by their labels for the work they do, and that wasn't happenin'. In my case, I'm happy to finally be a free man and make a new start!?
- Joe Budden Sets October Release For 'Padded Room', Fires Back At Prodigy
- Tue, 05 Aug 2008 16:12:03 PDT - Joe Budden will be releasing his long awaited sophomore album titled Padded Room on October 30th via Amalgam Digital.
It will be Budden's first official release in 5 years. The New Jersey rapper was previously signed to Def Jam Records and saw his sophomore project get pushed back repeatedly. Budden cut ties with Def Jam last year.
According to Budden's representative, Padded Room features no guest appearances and no 'big name' producers.
?There are no guest appearances on Joe's LP, he rides alone on it,? the rep told Sixshot.com ?Also, all of the producers are basically unknown and hungry, just the way Joe likes it! The only "name" producer who contributes a track is MoSS (and he only produces one track).?
Padded Room will contain fourteen tracks including ? Blood On Wall? in which Budden takes shots at Mobb Deep's Prodigy. Prior to being incarcerated earlier this year, Prodigy called Budden "the worst rapper alive" on a street DVD.

- Ghostface Goes R&B On New Album

The Wu-Tang Clan rapper says the album will not feature his signature soul sampling sound but will be more in the vein of his remixes with Beyonce and Ne-Yo.
?It's still gonna be street but it's R&B though,? Ghostface told Hot 97 personality Miss Info. ?I?m doing 13 cuts but its still street though. I got my 'Wildflowers? on it and all that. I'm just going in from all angles and shit?
Ghostface refused to reveal his collaborators on the album. He also did not reveal the project?s title or release date.
- Outkast's Andre 3000 To Star In Afro Samurai Movie?
- Tue, 05 Aug 2008 13:01:49 PDT - Actor Samuel L Jackson recently revealed that he would like to see Outkast rapper Andre 3000 play the lead character in the live-action film of the popular Spike TV cartoon, Afro Samurai.
Jackson provides the voice for the main character in Afro Samurai cartoon and also serves as an executive producer for the show.
?When I look at [Afro Samurai], I see Andre 3000,? Jackson told MTV.
Jackson divulged that a script for the movie is still being worked on. He plans to play the main character's father in the movie
A video game for Afro Samurai is expected to hit stores soon and the show's second season will premiere in 2009.
